Service Advisor Cloud-based Trial

When you request a cloud-based trial of Service Advisor, PuzzleLogic will provision a fully functional instance of Service Advisor for your organization. We'll host the Service Advisor in the cloud, free of charge for your 30-day trial.

Here's what you need to start using your cloud-based trial of Service Advisor:


System requirements

PuzzleLogic hosts the application, web, and storage servers that are required to run the Service Advisor platform. You provide the following:

  • Valid email address
    We'll need this to generate an evaluation license and create a Service Advisor instance for your organization
  • Supported web browser
    To access Service Advisor, you need one of the following web browsers:

    • Chrome (v44 or later)
    • Safari (v9.1 El Capitan or later)
    • Firefox (v47 or later)
    • Microsoft Edge (v25 or later)

Request a cloud-based trial

Click here to access the Cloud Trial form . Provide your contact information, and we'll create a Service Advisor instance for your organization based on the Company Name you provide. Your Email serves as your Username. We'll send an email with instructions to set the password for your Service Advisor instance.


Set up your Service Advisor trial

Complete these steps to get up and running with your Service Advisor trial.

  1. Set your password and log in to Service Advisor.
    You should have received an email with instructions for setting the password to your Service Advisor instance. Your Username is the Email you provided in the Cloud Trial form.If you did not receive an email from PuzzleLogic, go to https://puzzlelogic.net and click Forgot Password? In the Username field, enter the email you provided in the Cloud Trial form, click Reset, and follow the instructions to set your password.
  2. Add data sources to Service Advisor.
    NOTE: Administrator permissions are required to add data sources to Service Advisor.Service Advisor supports the import of data from a number of sources—including change, incident, and problem management systems and event monitoring tools. These data sources must be added to Service Advisor so the application can categorize and display imported data. If you import data to Service Advisor but did not define the data source, you will not see the data in the Service Advisor application.‌To add a data source to Service Advisor, click the Admin Settings icon (from the left menu), select Data Sources (from the top menu), and click the Add Data Source icon. Provide the information for the data source and click Add.‌See Adding the data sources for more information.
  3. Add your applications to Service Advisor.
    Your newly provisioned Service Advisor instance does not have any default applications defined, so you need to add your applications to Service Advisor. The applications that are added are displayed on the All Applications page. Applications with messages that meet your Important Messages rules are marked with the Important Messages icon on the All Applications page, so you can quickly assess the health of your applications.To add an application to Service Advisor, from the Home page click + Add and select Application, enter the information for the application, and click Add. Be sure to enter a Name and a Unique Key Value (or click the Auto-Create icon to create a unique key value) for each application.‌See Adding objects to the All Applications page and Creating Important Messages rules for more information.
  4. Create Service Advisor user accounts for your team members
    NOTE: Administrator permissions are required to add users to Service Advisor.A user account is required for each team member who will use Service Advisor.To create a user account, click the Account Settings icon on the left navigation bar. On the Users page, click the + icon, enter the information for the new user, and click Add. A signup URL will be sent to the Primary Email address provided. The recipient has 24 hours to complete the user registration.

  5. Add your IT components/assets (hosts, databases, etc.) to the appropriate application registry in Service Advisor.
    By adding your IT components/assets to the Service Advisor application registries, you can quickly see which applications or services are impacted when an incident, problem, or change issue occurs. You can link the components/assets to the application registries in bulk by importing them from CSV files, or you can add each component manually through the Service Advisor user interface.Note: In Service Advisor, components and configuration items are referred to as registry objects.

Integrate Service Advisor to your monitoring tools

You need to install and configure the PuzzleLogic Agent and the PuzzleLogic Command Line Interface (CLI) to import messages and other event data from monitoring tools into Service Advisor. Complete the steps in the following sections to install and configure these components.
